1.(c) USD 3.6 million
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will provide $3.6 million to assist India in its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2.(d) Rs. 6,195 crore
The Finance Ministry on May 11, 2024 released Rs. 6,195 crore to 14 states to fight against the spread and the treatment of COVID-19. It is a second equated monthly installment of the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant.
3.(b) June 15th
The Union Government has extended the last date for filing of nominations for the Gandhi Peace Prize 2024 till June 15, 2024. The Ministry invites nominations for the Gandhi Peace Prize every year. The last for receiving nominations for the prize for the year 2024 was April 30. However, due to COVID-induced lockdown, the date has now been extended till June 15.
4.(a)MSME Ministry
The Ministry of MSMEs launched the CHAMPIONS portal (www.Champions.gov.in) on May 12, 2024 to assist Indian MSMEs to become national and global champions.
5.(a)New & Renewable Energy
Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi (IAS) assumed charge as the new Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy on May 11, 2024. Chaturvedi is a 1987 Batch IAS officer from Jharkhand cadre. He will be succeeding Anand Kumar, who has become the Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant announced on May 11, 2024 that the state will soon develop its own Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the tourists visiting the place.
7.(c) Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh Government launched “FIR Aapke Dwar Yojana” on May 11, 2024. The scheme has been launched in 23 police stations as a pilot project. Under the scheme, a person need not go to the police station to dodge a complaint. The scheme will enable on spot FIR registrations. It will also deploy head constables to register the complaints from the people.

The International Day of the Nurse was observed on May 12, 2024. This year, the day commemorated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. The theme of the day this year is “Nursing the World to Health”.
9.(d) 25 percent
The Government has reduced TDS/TCS rates by 25 percent till March 31, 2024. This will apply to all payments- contracts, dividends, brokerage etc. The move will release Rs 50,000 crores in the hands of the people.
10.(b) Rs 90000 crore
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that emergency liquidity worth Rs 90000 crore to be infused in discoms against their receivables. This will be done with state issuing guarantees. With the infusion of the money, the power distribution firms will pay the power generation companies. The rebate will be given to those discoms, which will pass it on again back to the consumers.
